Why is my dental crown so expensive even with insurance?

I have two dental insurance plans for this reason.

You can do that?

Yep, unfortunately that’s a normal price, even with insurance.

I had good insurance when I needed my wisdom teeth out, and I still had to pay $2,600 out of pocket. Dental insurance barely covers anything, especially major procedures like crowns or extractions.

I pay around $350 with my insurance, and my dentist is in Bothell.

Can you share the dentist’s name or the practice?

It’s Annigan Dental.

Thanks!!

I’m in the same situation. Mine was around $550 with insurance too. Delta Dental?

Mine was about $700 with insurance for a crown replacement.

Mine’s with MetLife, but I’ve noticed most dentists take Delta!

That’s about what I paid too.

I was quoted $914 for a crown on a molar. My insurance covers 50%.

This is why I don’t go to the dentist even with insurance.

How do you avoid going when you have a problem? :weary:

I have two broken teeth and one that needs to be pulled. Last extraction cost $1,200 and a day off work. The crowns will cost $1,500. It’s just not affordable.

I’d rather pay than risk losing my teeth. I’m lucky my parents always took me to the dentist. Not everyone had that growing up.

I guess I’m just trying to see if there’s a more affordable option out there

You’re already getting a good deal. Dental schools might be cheaper, but they’ll take much longer—what could take a couple of hours could end up taking a full day.
