RBC has been great for me. I pay $100 monthly for home insurance.
Square One is $60/month for my detached home.
I’m with Intact for $87/month.
Why do home insurance policies require a one-year commitment? I can’t cancel mine early without a penalty.

Is this standard in Canada or just my company?
What kind of penalties or fees are involved if you cancel a policy before the one-year term ends?
Did you go with TD in the end?

Yes, I chose TD. Their rate was $113/month, including taxes.
I use PC Insurance. Home insurance is $80/month, and auto insurance for two cars and two drivers is $170/month.

I didn’t bundle because I don’t have a car right now. A friend of mine bundles with TD, and they still found it to be the cheapest option for them. Insurance rates can be so strange.
