Who are the biggest car insurance companies in the us?

Hey folks, just curious—who are the top car insurance companies in the U.S. these days? I heard State Farm is still number one, but what about others like Geico and Progressive? Anyone know if these big names actually make a difference?

Yeah, State Farm is the biggest right now. They’ve got around 18% of the market. Progressive and Geico are right behind them. I think it comes down to their rates and customer service.

I have Geico, and it’s been pretty affordable. They’re really good if you’re looking for an easy online experience, but I’ve never dealt with them in person.

I like the convenience of Geico, but I guess if you want a local agent, State Farm might be better.

USAA is pretty high up too, but you can only get it if you’re in the military or related to someone who is. Their rates are really low compared to most companies.

Good point. USAA does seem great if you’re eligible. It’s a bummer they’re not open to everyone.

I used to be with Allstate, but they were a bit pricier for me. I’ve heard good things about Progressive, though. They seem to be expanding fast.

Progressive’s market share has been growing. They’ve got some good discounts, but I’ve heard mixed reviews about their claims process.

For anyone in California, Geico actually has the biggest market share there. I think it’s because they offer some of the cheapest rates.

Interesting. I’m in California and have Geico. Never knew they were that popular here.

Do big companies always have better rates? I’ve heard that smaller, regional insurers can sometimes be cheaper if you shop around.

Big companies are stable and have more options, but smaller ones can be more personalized. It’s worth comparing if you want the best rate.
