So I read that tornado season in Oklahoma usually kicks in around March and lasts through June. They’re even predicting an above-average season for 2024… not ideal. Just wondering if you all have started prepping? Any tips on what to do?
Yeah, it’s coming up fast! I just trimmed the trees near my roof and cleared out any heavy stuff from my yard. You don’t want random debris flying around!

Good call, I should probably do the same with my yard. Last year’s storm knocked down a tree branch onto my fence.
I’ve packed my emergency kit already. Got water, canned food, flashlights, and a portable charger. You never know when you’ll need it.

Smart! I always forget about the portable charger… definitely adding that to my kit.
Does anyone here have a basement? I’m always torn between taking shelter in a closet or heading to my neighbor’s basement when a tornado warning hits.

I have a basement, but honestly, it’s still nerve-wracking. One time, the power went out while we were down there and it was pitch black. Not fun.

Yeah, I don’t have a basement, but I’ve heard covering yourself with a mattress in a closet can help protect you from flying debris.
For those of you living in Oklahoma City, did you know it’s one of the most tornado-prone areas in the state? We’ve had 153 tornadoes since 1950!

Yeah, it’s wild how many hit this area. I live in Edmond, and we’re always on high alert during spring.
I signed up for weather alerts from the National Weather Service. Definitely recommend staying updated that way, especially if you’re in a high-risk area.

Same here. It’s a lifesaver when the sirens don’t go off right away!
