I was under a lot of stress after my first mishap a few months ago. The accident was not very serious. There were no complaints about how my insurer handled the issue. My query is this: in 2022, I filed a comp claim; in 2023, I filed a glass claim. I paid because it wasn’t the full deductible amount. Do I face the risk of not getting renewed? a client since 2018; one additional glass in 2019. Is there a chance I won’t get renewed? Accident forgiveness is covered by the policy; it’s simply that there is a claim every year.
There is a strong likelihood that your claim won’t be renewed, and having one puts you at high danger of getting another one. Possessing two claims is highly correlated with having a third claim.
You have four claims in five years: a glass claim in 2019, a comprehensive claim in 2022, a glass claim in 2023, and an accident (the amount isn’t important; what matters is that you were partially at fault). That is a significant amount.
@Gina I recently renewed my coverage in May; is there anything I can do in the interim? (Renewal in November) Three out of the four were not my fault; the insurer was not charged for one, and the other required glass work. I have a great understanding of connection, so I can see why they would choose that course of action financially. What steps can I take, if any, to prevent non-renewal? Though it’s a bit late for that, I now realize I shouldn’t even bother with glass claims.
Annoying your insurance won’t renew you? It might be those claims, even the minor ones. But hey, there’s hope!
- Check your accident forgiveness details - maybe it only applies to the first one.
- Glass claims usually sting less than collision claims.
Call your agent! Explain your situation and see if they can help. Shop around too - other companies might offer a better rate despite the claims. Don’t give up on getting good coverage!
Hello, @Julia what a nice question, but would you mind elaborating the question for further understanding.
