Just read about some of the worst tornadoes in U.S. history, and wow… the destruction is unreal. Has anyone else read about the Tri-State Tornado or Joplin? It’s hard to imagine damage like that.
I remember reading about the Joplin tornado… that one was massive. I think it caused billions in damage, right?

Yep, around $2.8 billion! It was one of the worst in recent history. Insane how it destroyed thousands of buildings.

And it wasn’t the only crazy storm that year. The Tuscaloosa-Birmingham tornado was also in 2011 and did a ton of damage.

The Tri-State Tornado from 1925 is another big one. Nearly 700 people lost their lives… can’t even wrap my head around that.
Right? Back then they didn’t have the warning systems we have now, which is terrifying.

I think that’s why most of the deadliest tornadoes are from the early 1900s. Less infrastructure for safety.
The Moore, Oklahoma tornado in 2013 was another bad one. They clocked record wind speeds during that storm.

Yeah, Moore has been hit several times. Something about that area makes it so prone to these severe tornadoes.

It’s right in Tornado Alley, I think. People there must be so used to preparing for storms.
Anyone else read about the 1896 St. Louis tornado? It only lasted like 20 minutes but did insane damage.

Crazy to think a storm that quick could cause so much destruction. The city was way smaller back then too.

It’s true! I think the inflation-adjusted damage was still in the hundreds of millions.
Anyone know if homeowners insurance covers tornado damage? I’m in a tornado-prone area, so just curious.

Yes, most standard policies do cover tornadoes, but always good to check. Make sure you’re covered for the right amount.

Definitely! Better to be safe. Tornadoes can happen fast, especially in areas like Oklahoma.
