What did you think about today’s AMA session?

How long do you think the new CTO will stay before they might leave?

He has been here nearly as long as Hari, the CPO. I think he’ll stay at least as long as Hari.

The new CTO spoke for an hour and answered well-prepared questions, but he didn’t share anything new compared to his talk a few weeks ago. It wasn’t worth taking time away from actual work.

I think the AMA was useful. Even though there wasn’t much new information for those who understand the basics, some points needed to be clarified for others. For example, after his last talk, there was a big reaction about RTO coming back. Many knew he was just sharing his thoughts, not planning to act on it.

I found it valuable because usually people here compare the new CTO to previous leaders, but I don’t feel the same negative vibes from him like I did from others I didn’t like from the first meeting.

More importantly, outside of the meeting, some changes are already happening differently. So far, I like him.

However, for some people who aren’t interested in that stuff, they might have preferred to just keep working.

Regarding the prepared questions, I might be wrong because I wasn’t paying full attention while working. It seemed like they went through the most up-voted questions first. If there were more important questions, it’s our responsibility since we didn’t up-vote them.

@Terry
I just accepted a job offer with Geico. How long was the last meeting where they talked about RTO? It seems like everyone in claims and sales is doing RTO. When you compare the forum discussing his mention of RTO to their discussion in this meeting, what’s the difference? Are some people still working remotely, so the talk about RTO scared those who work from home? I’m trying to understand it better.

@Cypress
IT is still working from home. Other than that, I’m not sure which departments are, but you’re right—some areas have already returned to the office for some time now.

Geez. I guess the chances of us going back to remote work in other departments are low if they’re discussing RTO. But if you’re right and he’s just sharing his thoughts, maybe it will stay the same. I don’t have experience with management there, but at my company, they mention things vaguely to prepare us for possible changes in about six months. Who knows.

@Cypress
That’s right—the chances of claims and sales going back to working from home are very low or none.

Who can keep him longer than Pham?

I know him a bit from his previous job. I feel more hopeful about him as a person than I did about JP, LA, and HG. He’s more down-to-earth and a more reasonable leader.

But time will show how much control Todd will have over him. There was clearly an issue Todd had with Hari, and Vijay will need to follow through on whatever it was.
