I’ve been with GEICO for over a decade but recently started shopping for a new policy before purchasing a Model Y. GEICO’s quote seemed higher than expected, so I got quotes from several providers. Progressive had the lowest comparable coverage. I realized I’ve let my policy auto-renew over the years without considering if it’s still competitive. I’m curious—what insurance are others using for their Teslas, and how has your experience been?
I’m with Tesla insurance. It’s been the cheapest by far. If you’re in California, it’s worth checking out since they can’t raise rates unfairly based on things like false collision detection.

How much are you paying per month?
@Paz
About $125 per month. Most other quotes were over $200.
I use Progressive. They beat every other quote I got.

Same here. Progressive was much cheaper than Tesla Insurance in my case.
USAA. I pay about $95–$98 per month for my Model 3 and Model Y.

How did you get such a low rate? Mine is much higher even with similar coverage.
I’m with State Farm. Their Drive Safe and Save program brought my rates way down.

Same. State Farm was cheaper than Progressive and Tesla Insurance for me.
I switched to AAA after GEICO quoted me $325/month for my Model 3. AAA offered $160/month with a $7.50/month membership fee.
I’m in Maryland and tried GEICO, Progressive, Tesla Insurance, Costco, and State Farm. I ended up choosing State Farm for $174/month because they offered better coverage options than Costco.
Mutual of Enumclaw for two Teslas. We pay $90 per month each, bundled with homeowners insurance.
I switched to AAA. They included glass coverage, which is helpful for Teslas.
I’ve been with GEICO for years. My Model Y raised my rate by $150/month to $397. I’m planning to take a defensive driver course to lower it.
Costco Connect. They offered a great rate when I bundled it with home insurance.
