What can I use as proof of address for car insurance?

I just moved into a new place, got a new car, and a new job. Shopping for car insurance right now, but the companies keep asking for proof of address. I’ve got some ideas, but can anyone tell me what works for proof of address for car insurance?

Most companies want utility bills—like electric or gas. They’ll accept those as long as they’re recent.

Yup, I used my phone bill and it worked fine. Just make sure it shows your new address clearly.

If you’ve got a lease agreement for your apartment, that should work too. I used that when I moved.

Oh, good idea! I’ve got my lease agreement from last month.

Don’t forget about paystubs. They’ll take those too as long as they’re recent. Just went through this process last week.

Paystubs work? I always thought it had to be something like utility bills.

@Misha
Yeah, paystubs are accepted as long as they’re dated within 30-60 days.

Mail from government agencies works too. I used my USPS change of address letter once.

Didn’t think of that one. I’ll have to check my mail.

If you don’t have any of those yet, you should just call your insurance provider and explain the situation. They’ll probably have other options.

Totally. Sometimes they accept temporary documents if you’re in between addresses.
