Thinking of leaving USAA after all these years… anyone else?

I’ve been with USAA for almost 40 years, but recent news and personal experiences have me thinking about leaving. Is anyone else considering the same? What are your thoughts?

If you’ve been with them 40 years, you might want to wait for the special dividend payout. It’s a perk worth considering.

I’m really close to 40 years myself. That dividend could be worth it, plus I still get decent auto rates and discounts by bundling with my homeowner’s policy. Banking, though? It’s gone downhill fast.

@Zuri
I wouldn’t get too excited. The dividend this year is much smaller than usual.

@Zuri
I’ll see what I get in February. I’ve been thinking about leaving too but decided to stay after talking to a friend at State Farm.

I don’t understand how some people claim they get over $1,000 back. I’ve been with USAA for 20+ years, and my dividends have never gone over $150. What am I missing?

It depends on how many insurance products you have and how much you pay for them. It’s not based on investments or banking. Those with bigger dividends probably have multiple high-value policies.

@Darby
Were you an officer? That might make a difference.

My last dividend was $55. Hardly worth staying for.

I’ve been with them for over 40 years. I looked around and decided to stay. It’s not perfect, but it still works for me.

Always shop around. Loyalty only goes so far, especially with big companies. They rely on you sticking around out of habit.

I left for Progressive because their rates were better, but I still bank with USAA. It’s a mix and match situation for me.

Same here. I hate that it’s come to this, but USAA just isn’t competitive for insurance anymore.

I checked around, but for me, USAA still offers the best rates, especially when you factor in the annual dividend.

Most people are still happy with USAA but don’t bother posting about it. If you’re thinking of leaving, make sure it’s the right move for your situation.

I’ve dropped most of their services except for insurance. Everything else just isn’t competitive anymore.

Their insurance isn’t great either these days. And filing a claim? Good luck with that.

I switched from Chase to USAA for banking because I got tired of the fees. USAA’s fee-free accounts and ATM reimbursements are great.

I’ve been with them for 19 years. I could probably get cheaper rates elsewhere, but they’ve always been reliable when I needed them. That peace of mind is worth paying a little extra.

USAA has been great for me. Their rates aren’t the cheapest, but I’ve never had an issue with claims or customer service. I’m sticking with them for now.
