I live in an area that gets a lot of hurricanes. With the way insurance rates keep going up, I’m considering dropping my home insurance. I’m fine with risking the cost of damage, but I’m still worried about getting sued if someone gets hurt on my property. I’ve been trying to find a liability-only policy, but no luck so far. Anyone know of companies that offer this?
You might want to look into an xwind policy. They can sometimes be priced similar to just standalone liability.
Sounds like you’re after a comprehensive personal liability policy, or CPL.
Yep, CPL is the way to go for liability coverage.
Honestly, your best bet is to reach out to a local broker. They’ll know if it’s possible in your area and how to make it happen.
I’ve been in a similar spot, and it’s tough to find pure liability coverage without also covering the property. Curious to see what others say.

Usually, you can’t get an umbrella policy unless you have a basic property policy first. That’s how they cover the home.
@Torrance
Wait, so you’re saying you need a property policy to add an umbrella? Didn’t realize that.
