I started applying for new jobs in October. I got an email for the assessment, did that, and then had a recording interview the next day. The day after that, they set up an over-the-phone overview, and right after that, I got offered the job! I did the background check and waited.
Today, while at work, I got the email that the background check was done. “Welcome to the company!” it said. I couldn’t hold back, I yelled “YES!” and caught my supervisor’s attention. I told him, “I quit.” He laughed, and so did I. But then I said, “No seriously, come walk me out.” He was stunned, said, “Wow, for real?” I said, “Yep, now hurry up, I’ve got happy hour to catch!” Handed over my badge, ran to my car, and felt a huge weight lift off my shoulders. Four years of BS, finally over.
I thank God! I swear working at GEICO was giving me PTSD. Felt like being stuck on a sinking ship with no way out.
I quit over two years ago and have zero regrets. But man, the PTSD from that place is real. At my new job, when someone asks if I need help, I’d get defensive, thinking they were trying to steal credit or had some ulterior motive. Turns out, they just wanted to help. Crazy, huh?
Congrats! Great story. I left after more than a decade, and it really is such a relief. Take care of yourself and your mental health. Wishing you all the best!

I left about nine months ago, and the past few years have been a disaster. It was always tough, but profit sharing made it worth it. Now, it’s just not. If you’re thinking of leaving, do it. Almost anything is better.
