Root Car Insurance is a serious scam

I am seriously considering taking legal action against Root Car Insurance.

I switched from Geico to Root Car Insurance because the policy offered by Root was cheaper. I thoroughly verified with the insurance specialist that the new policy would be full coverage since I am financing my vehicle. They repeatedly assured me that it was indeed full coverage, and my lienholder is even listed on my insurance policy document.

However, a few months later, I was involved in an accident and filed a claim with Root, only to be informed that they would not be covering any expenses as my policy did not include full coverage. This is perplexing, especially since I specifically requested full coverage and, under Oregon law, it is illegal to have less than full coverage on a financed vehicle.

I am uncertain about the next steps but plan to consult a lawyer to explore my options. Has anyone else experienced a similar situation, and if so, how did you handle it?

I am about to submit a complaint to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) regarding Root Car Insurance. My issue isn’t with a claim but with their scoring system. They allege that I was driving and using my phone, despite the fact that I have clear evidence proving I was a passenger at the time.

This inaccuracy has negatively impacted my driving score, and I find it unacceptable that they are basing their assessment on incorrect information. Has anyone else faced similar issues with their scoring system, and if so, how did you address it?

This company is a SCAM!!! They falsely advertise to get you in. After they collect your money they cancel after a week and give you 10 days to find a new policy. The test drive is a scam. Beware if you use GPS and you are not driving they consider you the driver. They don’t test drive for 2 to 4 weeks They only test for a week and they don’t give 30 days to find new coverage. They also don’t show proof of when you are a driver versus passenger because I have been a passenger majority of these past 8 days but they logged me as a driver.

This company is a SCAM! They use false advertising to lure you in. After taking your money, they cancel your policy after a week and give you just 10 days to find a new one. The test drive is also a scam. If you use GPS while someone else is driving, they still count you as the driver. They claim to test drive for 2 to 4 weeks, but it’s only for a week, and they don’t give you 30 days to find new coverage. They don’t provide proof of when you’re the driver or a passenger. I’ve been a passenger most of the past 8 days, but they logged me as the driver. Beware!
