MetLife pet insurance experience… disappointing

I can’t believe how frustrating my experience has been. I chose MetLife because they actively support shelters and pet adoption, but now I’m regretting it. I submitted my first claim for my adopted cat, providing all the necessary documents, but the claim was closed without explanation.

Over the past two months, I’ve made four or five calls to customer service, and finally, I spoke with a manager. She explained the delay was because they thought I might have visited other vets first, basically accusing me of insurance fraud. When I said I found this offensive, she said she was just ‘educating’ me.

The call ended with a promise of follow-up in three days, but I’m not holding my breath. My cat is still sick, and there’s still no guarantee that my claim will be paid.

I don’t just blame customer service—MetLife seems to have a completely disconnected organization that doesn’t prioritize customers or their pets. Honestly, I’d bet their employees aren’t treated much better.

It’s disappointing to pay so much for coverage and end up dealing with this kind of hassle.

Did you submit adoption records? Usually they ask for this. I’ve used MetLife for a few years now and have had great results. Sorry this was a bad experience for you.
