Is Nationwide pet insurance worth it or should I look elsewhere?

Hi everyone, I recently signed up for Nationwide to cover my cat. I’m paying a bit more than I’d like, but I’m okay with it if the policy turns out to be a good investment. My biggest concern is that my cat has a pre-existing condition, which they won’t cover. That’s frustrating.

I’ve also been reading online about people getting dropped from their plans as their pets get older. What are your experiences with Nationwide? Is it reliable, or should I start looking for another company?

Nationwide dropped 100,000 policies recently and reduced coverage from 90% to 50% for older pets. If I were you, I’d look for a different company. AKC, for example, will cover some pre-existing conditions after a year if that’s something you’re interested in.

A lot of pet owners have lost trust in Nationwide because they’ve dropped so many policies or reduced coverage for aging pets. If you haven’t filed any claims yet, you might want to consider switching.

AKC could be a good option if your cat isn’t too old, as they offer some coverage for pre-existing conditions after a waiting period. Depending on your state, you might also be able to get a refund if you cancel your policy soon after signing up.
