Is it a terrible idea to work with an insurance agent that lives 20 minutes away but is out of state?

After doing some research, I located an insurance agent 20 minutes away by car. The agency is in Kentucky, while I reside in Cincinnati, Ohio. Should I use that agent, would there be any issues?

Here are a few reasons why this might not be the greatest idea:

  • State Laws: Insurance laws can differ between states. Make sure the agent is licensed to operate in Ohio too.
  • Claims and Support: If you ever need to file a claim or need support, make sure the agent can handle everything for Ohio residents.
