So I let my sister borrow my truck to get to work, and she ended up in an accident after going over a median. She has her own insurance and isn’t listed on my truck’s policy. The other vehicle hit her after she crossed the median—their airbags went off, and they didn’t have much other damage. My truck, though, took a lot of damage on the passenger side: the doors won’t open, the cab is bent, and the back passenger window shattered. Since she was at fault, I’m trying to figure out whose insurance will cover the damage—mine or hers?
Generally, insurance follows the vehicle. So, your policy would cover it, and if those limits are maxed out, her insurance might step in. Should be treated as a permissive driver claim, not at fault.

Thank you.
It’s a bit hard to tell exactly who was at fault based on the description. If the other driver was at fault, their insurance should cover it unless there are coverage issues. If your sister was at fault, then it depends on your policy. If it covers permissive drivers (and she doesn’t live with you or drive the truck often), your insurance should pay. Some policies, though, only cover drivers listed by name. Hope that clears things up a bit!
@Brett
Thx.
