i’ve been thinking about converting my garage into a new space, but not sure where to start. has anyone here done a garage conversion? i’d love to get some ideas!
i converted mine into a small studio for painting. added skylights for natural light and installed track lighting for focused work – it’s amazing for creative projects.

that sounds cool! how do you manage ventilation?
@Jordan
i added a small exhaust fan on one side and a vent on the opposite wall. works great to keep the air fresh.
we converted ours into a mini guesthouse! added a kitchenette, a bathroom, and a fold-out bed. now we can host family comfortably without them needing to book a hotel.

that’s a great idea! how much did it cost?
@Sydney
we spent around $15,000, mostly because of plumbing and electrical work. but it’s worth it for the flexibility it adds.
i turned mine into a home gym. rubber flooring, wall mirrors, and a few machines. saved me the hassle of driving to a gym, plus i can work out anytime!

that sounds perfect! did you need to get any permits?
@Sydney
no permits needed for basic remodeling, but check with local zoning if you’re making big structural changes.
i made mine into a theater room. i added a projector, blackout curtains, and even a small popcorn machine – feels just like a mini cinema!

wow! does the sound bother the neighbors?
@Sydney
i added soundproofing panels, which help a lot. no complaints so far!
