I’ve been comparing quotes for homeowners insurance in Crawfordville, FL, and the prices seem to vary a lot. Has anyone found a good deal that balances coverage and affordability? Here’s what I found so far:
I got a quote for $3,870 with $280,000 coverage and an $8,300 deductible. It’s for a 4-bed, 1-bath house near Hummingbird Ln. Does that seem high?

It depends on your credit score and other factors. I’ve seen quotes in that range for similar coverage.
@Ashwin
Same here. My credit score is in the 650-699 range, and I got a similar quote. The deductible seems a bit high, though.
Anyone else shocked by the $6,960 quote for $360,000 coverage near Madeline Dr? Seems like a lot, even with a $1,200 deductible.

That’s definitely on the high side. Was the credit score or pet situation a factor?
@DisasterDavid
Might be. The quote is for someone with more than three pets and a smoking habit, which probably raised the premium.
For those looking at Travelers, I got $1,920 for $200,000 coverage with a $11,700 deductible. It’s for a 3-bed, 1-bath near Inez Ln.

That’s actually not bad, considering the higher deductible. Does it include any extras, like flood coverage?
@Shay
Not sure about flood coverage. I’ll have to check, but it’s worth asking since we’re in Florida.
I was quoted $2,550 for $160,000 coverage with a $1,000 deductible. My property’s on Shepherdwood Dr, built in 2012. Is that a good deal?

That seems decent for the deductible you’re getting. Did you bundle with auto insurance?
@Benn
No, it’s standalone. Maybe I should ask about bundling to see if it lowers the cost.
I’ve been seeing quotes around $3,000 to $6,000 for larger homes. Is that typical for properties with multiple pets and smokers?

Unfortunately, yes. Smokers and multiple pets often increase premiums due to higher perceived risks.
@Pax
Yeah, and if your credit score isn’t great, it adds even more to the cost.
