If my engine stops working, will my insurance from Geico pay for it? Geico says something about covering mechanical issues, and I think an engine problem counts as mechanical, right?

Review your current auto insurance policy. Look for any coverage related to mechanical breakdowns, such as mechanical breakdown insurance (MBI). Standard policies usually exclude this, but some insurers offer MBI as an add-on.

Typically, car insurance, including gap insurance, does not cover engine failure unless it is a direct result of an accident or another incident covered by your policy. However, there might be some coverage options available that can safeguard your finances even if an accident hasn’t occurred.
