Has Anyone Dealt with Kemper Recently?

I was rear-ended, and I have a 2024 Subaru Outback. They approved $3100 for repairs, but the car hasn’t actually been seen at a shop. Kemper gave me a list of places to take it, but if I go somewhere else, I’d have to pay any extra costs out of pocket.

Not really sure what’s the best move here.

Not always. Your shop can submit a supplement for review if additional repairs are needed.

If they gave you an initial estimate, there should be instructions for your repair shop to submit extra documentation (like photos, invoices, updated estimates) if they think more is needed. Usually, once it’s approved, Kemper would send additional payment directly to the shop.

Just be aware, some Kemper policies include a 20% copay on top of your deductible if you go out of their network. So if you go out of network, check your policy to see if that applies to you.
