Dog needs surgery. trupanion will not cover. help

Tropanion rejected my contention that the dog needed surgery. Help.

My dog, who is two years old, requires acl surgery. I will have to pay $7,000. My insurance company, Tropanion, rejected my claim because they said he had “degenerative joint disease.” According to his parents’ medical documents, he is two years old and free of conditions that are common in his breed. Nothing in his specialist data points to a degenerative condition, and according to his specialist, it might have happened recently, after his coverage would have begun. Last year, he developed a limp after walking strangely on the grass, so I took him to the veterinarian. He was prescribed treatment for what they determined to be a soft tissue injury, and the limp disappeared. My dog had a form of Lyme disease a few months ago, and one of its symptoms was malnutrition and limping. After taking medication, his appetite returned and the limping stopped. He damaged his leg after falling in a hole while playing with a dog around a week and a half ago. Despite his limp, I assumed he would be alright. After I took him to a specialist for a growth he had grown elsewhere, the specialist examined him and found a partial tear in his acl.

How should I handle insurance? Tropanion is with him. What is the process for filing an appeal? Since “nothing in his records suggests degenerative joint disease,” his specialist thinks I should.

I believe the insurance provider will need to cooperate with the veterinarian. There should be documentation explaining their reasoning if they are rejecting the claim related to degenerative joint condition. They can not just think of it without any prior planning. Appeal it, please.

Yes, my veterinarian called them and informed them that they were rejecting the claim due to “degenerative joint disease.” The veterinarian informed me of this information and advised me to attempt an appeal as “nothing in his records show that.” Is not it strange, Many thanks. I will make an appeal. I have no idea how to do it or how long it will take. Do you know anything about this.

Although I have not dealt with it, it seems to be very common. I have heard conflicting opinions about Trupanion. We are preparing for the arrival of a French bulldog puppy. Trupanion is excessively costly, and for that reason alone, I will not use them. You may check out other businesses; I believe AKC Pet Insurance is one of them. Actually, if a problem has been fixed and no symptoms have appeared after a year, they will not classify it as a pre-existing condition.

Although I can not offer any advice on insurance, I would research credit cards with zero percent interest rates if you can not or will not pay $7k right away. You can be authorized immediately if your credit score is good. Before it arrives in the mail, make sure the card is compatible with your virtual wallet. Although having so much credit card debt is awful, it has helped me on several occasions when I have had to pay for my cat’s medical bills I hope your appeal is granted so you can settle it right away.

Many thanks, he needs surgery, and I am willing to pay for it, but I am trying to find out if his insurance would pay for it. That is a fantastic concept, the specialist I met can actually pay them straight with one of those credit cards. Many thanks  I am happy that there is this choice. I hope all is fine with you and your cat.
