Does Medicaid cover dental for adults in Texas?

I’ve got Medicaid and was wondering if it covers dental for adults in Texas. The info I’ve found is kinda vague. Anyone know what’s actually covered? Thinking about getting an exam or maybe an extraction. Appreciate any insights!

Yeah, Medicaid covers some dental stuff for adults in Texas, like exams, x-rays, and tooth extractions. But don’t expect them to cover anything major like cosmetic stuff.

Thanks! That’s helpful. I’m mainly looking at an exam and x-rays for now. Guess I’ll have to call my dentist to confirm everything?

@Ziv
Yeah, definitely call them. Most dental offices should know what’s covered, and they’ll tell you if your plan works with them.

FYI, if you need an extraction, Medicaid usually covers that too. I had to get a tooth pulled last year and didn’t pay a thing.

Did you have to get approval beforehand or was it just covered automatically?

@Piper
It was covered right away. The dentist handled it all. Just ask them when you go in, they’ll know if it’s covered under your plan.

I called my Medicaid rep before seeing my dentist just to be sure. They gave me a list of what’s covered, so no surprises. Maybe try that?

Good call. I’ll reach out to them before booking anything. Didn’t think to do that.

For sure get an exam and x-rays done. It helps catch stuff early, and Medicaid will usually cover it. My dentist always does an exam before doing anything else.

Medicaid’s great for basics, but if you need anything fancy like crowns or implants, you’re outta luck. They focus on preventive stuff and things like extractions.

Yeah, I figured the big stuff wouldn’t be covered. I’m just looking at the basics for now.
