Dental insurance… is it even worth it?

Dental insurance really feels like a discount card… I needed my wisdom teeth out and it covered $300 out of the $2500 total. They even asked for payment while I was barely awake from anesthesia!

Just got my wisdom tooth out in Europe for 50 bucks. US dental costs are wild.

Same problem in Canada. Most provinces don’t include dental under public health unless you’re on assistance, so you’re stuck unless you can afford private coverage.

Even the proposed public coverage would barely help. It only covers basics, which doesn’t help for major issues.

Recently bartered with my dentist… fixed a loose faucet for them after my cleaning, and they waived my third cleaning fee. Worked out well for both of us!

So frustrating… I end up pushing procedures into the next year just to avoid paying extra.

Had to double-check… ADA means American Dental Association, not the disabilities act!

Had dental insurance for my kid. When she got a cavity, they wouldn’t cover it because she was under 21. We canceled it right after that.

Next thing you know, there’ll be insurance for every body part. “Got my leg insurance covered!”

Celebrities do it for real if it’s part of their career!

My partner’s crown wasn’t covered at all by insurance… it’s crazy how little dental plans actually pay for.

Check out dental colleges if costs are too high. I needed major work done, and dental schools offer huge discounts for people willing to work with them.

I’m on SSDI and need tons of dental work, but Medicare only covers $1,000 max per year. It’s a nightmare trying to afford all the care I actually need.

I’ve had terrible dental issues since losing parental insurance at 18. Eventually had all my teeth pulled and now live without dentures. Smiling in pictures just isn’t a thing for me anymore.

Needed a full dental replacement and my insurance covered nothing. Feels like a slap in the face.
