Car hit while pumping gas

While I was pumping gas at a station, someone hit my car, damaging the paint and leaving a blue streak on their car. When I confronted them, they said they didn’t care and drove off. Should I file a claim, or is it not worth it?

Something similar happened to me in Texas. The repair cost was about the same as my deductible, and I didn’t want to risk higher premiums. Ultimately, I decided not to file a claim.

It’s frustrating because it feels like a lose-lose situation. Filing a claim means dealing with higher premiums for years. Sorry you went through that.

Thanks. I’m sorry about your car too. Maybe a good polish could help?

Unfortunately, it’s too deep for a polish. My paint was literally smeared across her white Nissan, and she didn’t even care. She just left without even getting gas.

Take pictures of their license plate and report it to your insurance. They might be able to track down the driver’s insurance. Then you can either file a claim with their insurance or let your insurance handle it and recover the costs from them.
