I’m a new driver, just got my license, and looking for affordable car insurance. I heard State Farm and USAA are good, but I’m not sure. Any recommendations or advice on discounts?
If you’re eligible, USAA is great. They’re the cheapest option I found, especially for teens. Also, their SafePilot program helps reduce premiums if you drive safely.

Totally agree! USAA has awesome customer service too, but remember, it’s only for military families.

Oh, didn’t know about that! Thanks for the heads-up!
State Farm has a Drive Safe & Save program that tracks your driving and can lower your rate. I’ve saved around 10% with it.

Interesting! Does it track everything you do, though?

It tracks things like speed, braking, and miles driven. Not too intrusive, but it’s worth it for the discount.
If you’re a student with good grades, many companies offer a discount. I got around 15% off with GEICO for having a B average.

Good to know! I’ll definitely look into the good student discount.
For new drivers, I’d recommend starting on your parents’ policy if possible. It’s usually cheaper than having your own.

Yeah, that’s what I’m doing. Rates are way lower that way!

Same here. My agent said it’s better until I have a couple of years of driving experience.
Nationwide is decent if you’re looking for accident forgiveness, especially for new drivers. They have a program called SmartRide to help save more, too.

Does the SmartRide program work well? I heard it gives better rates but not sure how it works.

Yes, it tracks driving habits. If you drive safely, they give you discounts.
