Best and cheapest home insurance in Alabama... what’s the deal?

I’ve been looking into home insurance in Alabama and came across a few things. Auto-Owners seems to be ranked the best, but Allstate has the cheapest rates at around $2,134 a year. Has anyone else found better deals or is Allstate the way to go?

I’ve been with Allstate for a while now, and yeah, their rates are pretty solid. My annual premium is just over $2,100 for $300,000 dwelling coverage. You might also want to check out Auto-Owners if you’re looking for top-rated service, though.

@Merritt
Yeah, I saw that Auto-Owners was rated the best, but not sure if it’s worth paying a bit more for them. How’s your experience been with Allstate’s customer service?

Honestly, pretty good. Haven’t had any issues with claims, and they were quick when I needed help after a storm.

I was debating between State Farm and Allstate, but Allstate ended up being way cheaper for me. I’m paying around $2,134 too. Might want to compare the ZIP code rates to see what works best for you.

Good idea, I didn’t even think about checking ZIP code rates. Do they vary that much?

@Chance
Yeah, definitely. I found some ZIP codes where rates are almost double depending on where you live.

If you want super affordable rates, Allstate is probably your best bet. But if you’re looking for better service, I’d go with Auto-Owners. They’ve got a really good reputation in Alabama.

Sounds like Auto-Owners is more about quality, huh? I’m leaning towards Allstate, though, since it’s cheaper.

I’ve heard good things about both companies, but I ended up going with State Farm because they had better discounts for bundling with auto insurance. Depends on what you’re looking for, I guess.

Yeah, bundling could save me a bit. I’ll look into it—thanks for the tip!

Don’t forget to check if your area offers any wind damage discounts through the Strengthen Alabama Homes program. It could lower your premium.

Oh, I hadn’t even heard of that. I’ll definitely check if I qualify for that discount!
