Are boat docks covered by homeowners insurance?

Hey, I’ve been wondering if my homeowners insurance covers the dock where I keep my boat. I read somewhere that it might, but only under certain conditions. Does anyone know if docks are typically included in homeowners policies? And what kind of things aren’t covered?

I checked with my insurance, and they said if the dock is part of your primary residence, it’s usually covered for things like fire and wind damage. But stuff like ice damage, floods, or high winds causing waves? That’s not covered.

Yeah, I looked into this too! If your dock is removable, it might even count as personal property under some policies. But definitely check with your agent to be sure.

Flood insurance doesn’t cover docks either, so if you’re worried about flooding, you might need to look at other options.
