Anyone worked as a claims trainee for Progressive or Geico?

I just got an offer from Progressive to join as a claims auto damage trainee. The training is paid, the salary and benefits look great, and it’s a big step up from my current job in insurance sales. My current workplace is a mess with management all over the place and ridiculous metrics that make it impossible to earn decent money.

I also got an interview invite from Geico for a similar role, but from what I’ve read on this forum and elsewhere, the reviews for Geico are pretty negative. Progressive seems to have mixed reviews, but I’m leaning towards them because of the gain-sharing benefit and overall better vibes.

If anyone here has worked as a claims trainee at either Progressive or Geico, what’s your experience been like? Which one has better stability, growth, and work environment? I’d appreciate any advice or insight.

Definitely go with Progressive, but don’t decline Geico right away—see if they make you an offer first.

Progressive still has profit-sharing with the gain-share program, and it’s way less toxic than Geico right now. I’ve been at Geico for a few years, and it’s only gotten worse. It’s cutthroat, exhausting, and honestly not worth it unless you’re desperate for experience. If you go with Geico, plan your exit strategy from day one.

@Amari
Got it. Seems like Geico isn’t what it used to be. I’ll stick with Progressive. Thanks for your advice!

I recently quit Geico during claims training. The environment was unbelievably toxic—like nothing I’ve experienced before. It’s not worth it.

Wow, that sounds rough. What made it so toxic? Was it the workload or the way people were treated? Would love to hear more if you’re okay sharing.

Go with Progressive, no question. I left Geico after nearly 10 years to join Progressive, and it was the best decision I ever made. My mental health improved so much, and I’ve been with Progressive for almost three years now. Zero regrets.

A lot of people are jumping ship from Geico to Progressive because of how bad Geico has gotten. The switch has been worth it for most.
