Anyone have experience with AAA for car insurance?

I’m looking to buy my first car soon, and AAA gave me a pretty good rate. But I don’t hear about them as much as companies like Progressive or Geico. Anyone here have AAA insurance? How’s their customer service, and do they have any perks compared to the other big names?

I know what you mean; AAA isn’t as well-known for insurance as it is for roadside help. Still, a lot of folks have had good experiences. This comparison link helped me weigh my options.

Most big insurance companies are pretty similar with coverage and service. AAA will give you what you need, just like the others.

Exactly.

Mostly true, but I find USAA to be a better deal.

Had them when my sister hit a deer; they were quick to respond and paid out without any issues. I’d pick AAA over Geico or Progressive if prices are close.

Same here. I was in a few accidents (none my fault) and AAA took care of everything smoothly, got me rentals, and made repairs easy. Thinking of going back to them for my next car.

@Ash
Oh, and their towing is great. If you get multiple policies with them, you get a discount too.

We’ve had AAA for a while and have had good experiences. They took care of me right away when someone ran a red light and totaled my car. Customer service has always been friendly.

@Frey
Moved to Progressive; rates were much better here.

I had AAA in California, and they’d even send out dividends since they’re non-profit. Switched to Geico later since they were cheaper in our new state, and I love Geico’s easy-to-use app.

I liked them until they dropped my homeowners policy over a water trampoline I asked about before buying. Other than that, claims were smooth. Just annoyed they told me one thing, then did another.

Was this on a renters or homeowners policy?

@Meade
It was homeowners. Had auto and umbrella with them too.

Ugh, that’s frustrating. I know they’re wary of trampolines because of injuries. But it’s annoying they gave you the go-ahead first.

@Ash
I thought a water trampoline would be safer than a land one. I only told them because I wanted to be upfront!

@Ash
I grew up with a trampoline. It was great fun and never an issue!

Been with AAA a while, but if rates keep going up, I’ll have to drop them.

Actually, I did end up switching and I’m happy I did.
