Anyone got tips for finding cheap health insurance in California?

Hey all. I’ve been looking at options for health insurance in California for next year, and the prices seem pretty high… Does anyone have tips or tricks for finding something affordable? I keep seeing information about subsidies, but I’m not sure how they work. Any help would be appreciated.

I’m in the same situation. I’ve been trying to figure out if Kaiser or L.A. Care is better. They seem to be the top options for affordable plans in California.

I’m with L.A. Care, and it’s been decent. If you’re in Los Angeles County, I’d say it’s a good option. It might not have all the extras, but it gets the job done.

Thanks for the insight. I’ll check out L.A. Care and see if it fits my needs.

Another option to consider is Covered California. If your income qualifies, you can get discounts through subsidies that make the plans more affordable.

I heard the discounts can lower monthly costs quite a bit if you’re eligible.

I checked Covered California, and it really helped me find something affordable. Just a heads up, though, the discounts depend on income.

If you’re considering flexibility with doctors, you might want to look into Blue Shield or Anthem. They’re a bit pricier but give you more options for doctors outside of network.

I agree. Blue Shield’s PPO plan was more expensive, but it worked well when I needed to see a specialist outside my area.

Anyone know if switching to a lower coverage plan, like Bronze, saves money? I don’t go to the doctor often, so it seems like a good idea.

It does save money on the monthly premium, but keep in mind you’ll pay more if you need medical care. Might be worth it if you’re healthy, though.
