I’m done with USAA. I’ve got a CD with them at a decent rate, but as soon as it matures, I’m out. I’m closing all my accounts—checking, credit, CD, insurance, everything. I’ve been really happy with Charles Schwab for checking, Navy Federal Credit Union, and American Express National Bank. Between these, I feel like I’m covered.
USAA just doesn’t seem to care about its customers anymore, and it feels like they’re only out for profits. Anyone else feeling this way?

Same here… I use Schwab for retirement accounts. I’m actually dealing with a big fraud issue with USAA right now, so once that’s sorted, I might switch everything over to Schwab.
I’ve gradually moved most of my accounts out of USAA, except for a basic checking account, mainly because I never want to deal with ATM fees.
USAA just doesn’t seem the same anymore. It all went downhill when they started advertising during NFL games. Spending all that money to reach such a small part of the population? Why not focus on Google or Facebook ads targeted at military folks instead?
And every time I see Gronk acting silly in a USAA commercial, it just confirms that they don’t get it anymore. No way I’m bringing more business to them.
I’ve been with USAA since I got back from Vietnam in 1972, but I’ve never trusted them for banking. To me, they’ve always been more of an insurance company. For banking, I stick to NFCU, BoA, and Ally. BoA is mainly for family reasons (I don’t recommend them), but NFCU and Ally have been great.
I use USAA for checking, and it’s fine overall, but the cash deposit situation is annoying. That’s why I have a checking account with a credit union too.

Yeah, I used to have just USAA and a local credit union as well.
