Hi everyone! I’m looking for some advice. I wanted to shop around for new car insurance quotes. I’ve been with State Farm for 2.5 years and was with Progressive before that. I switched to State Farm because when I financed a 2018 Audi A4, my Progressive rate went up a lot.
The problem now is that every time I try to get an online quote, it just tells me they can’t give a quote due to underwriting guidelines. No points on my license, no recent accidents, and my last ticket (for no seatbelt) was two years ago.
I’m female, 30, have good credit, and a full-time job. I did move to a new town recently where my car is now garaged. It’s a gentrified area, and I’m just renting an apartment.
Would seeing an insurance broker in person help here? It feels odd to get denied online like this. Thanks for any insights!
The insurance industry is pretty tight right now, and a lot of companies are taking on fewer new clients. An independent agent could be your best bet since they can look up options across multiple providers for you.

It’s true that rates are up across the board. Talking to an independent agent lets you compare options that might not be available directly to the public.

Thanks for all the advice! I got a letter saying the decline was related to my car model.
Sounds like it’s probably your car model causing the issue. Seeing a broker should help you find better options. Some companies avoid certain models or types.
@Sage
I ended up talking to a friend in insurance who recommended going in person. I actually traded in my Audi for a hybrid CRV, which dropped my insurance by about $800 a year. Not the answer I hoped for, but it worked out for me.

My friend in insurance recommended talking to an agent in person since online quotes might not work for every case. I ended up switching cars and got a cheaper premium that way.
