Any ideas on where to get a vasectomy without breaking the bank?

Check with Planned Parenthood. They offer more than just services for women.

I called Planned Parenthood in Dallas, and the receptionist was pretty blunt in saying they don’t offer male health services, even though it’s listed on their website.

@Micah
Sounds like you might’ve called the wrong branch, or maybe it was just a misunderstanding. These things happen sometimes.

Nope, I called the right place. I even double-checked. I asked specifically about vasectomies, but she said they don’t do that, even though it’s listed. It was a bit frustrating.

What kind of tactic are you talking about?

You’re saying $600-750 is too expensive? That’s about half a month of child support…

That’s a pretty good deal. See if you can get on a payment plan, maybe call it a ‘no-child support plan.’

Having a kid cost me $9k after insurance, and that’s before diapers, formula, or daycare.

@Kendall
Same here. My kid also had food allergies, eczema, and asthma. We’ve spent a fortune on hypoallergenic formula, specialists, and epipens.

@Kendall
Daycare cost me $3,000 a month at one point. And that doesn’t include how much they eat! Love my kids, but wow, they are expensive.

@Kendall
And don’t forget lost income and health insurance costs.

My girlfriend is on birth control right now, so it’s not an immediate concern, but having an extra layer of security wouldn’t hurt.

@Mai
Birth control isn’t foolproof. If you really want to avoid fathering a child, get the vasectomy. It could save you a lot of stress down the road.

Even vasectomies aren’t 100% foolproof. I’ve met people who had kids after getting one, including a couple who had two! They didn’t seem upset, but still…

@Aris
Bet he didn’t go to his follow-up appointment.

Lol, I didn’t ask.

@Aris
No, it’s not 100% foolproof, but it’s the next best thing!

And they can be reversed if you change your mind later.

@Morgan
There’s only a 10% chance of a successful reversal, which is risky if you plan on having kids in the future.

You can store sperm before the procedure to increase your chances. Also, many people still produce viable sperm after reversal, so it’s not necessarily a dead end.

@Morgan
Freezing sperm isn’t a guarantee. A lot of doctors warn against vasectomies if you plan to have kids later. I wouldn’t risk it, honestly.
