Affordable car insurance in Texas... any recommendations?

Looking at car insurance options here in Texas, but the prices seem pretty high. Has anyone found a good deal for full coverage? Or is liability-only a better option if you’re on a budget?

Texas Farm Bureau is one of the cheapest for full coverage. They quoted me about $138 a month.

Nice! I use them too. They also have great customer service. Just note there’s a small membership fee to join.

@Rowan
Good to know about the membership! Thanks for the heads-up.

For liability-only, Progressive was the cheapest I found at $45 a month. Not bad if you’re just looking to meet the minimum.

Progressive’s solid. I’ve been with them for a couple of years, no issues so far.

USAA is good too if you’re military or have family who served. Their rates are competitive, and the coverage is solid.

I’ve heard their customer service is top-notch too. Worth checking out if you qualify.

Just a heads-up, Texas has a high rate of uninsured drivers, so I recommend adding uninsured motorist coverage if you can. It’s worth the extra cost.

Agreed. I got hit by an uninsured driver once, and uninsured motorist coverage saved me big time.

For anyone in a big city like Houston or Dallas, expect to pay more. Rates are higher there because of traffic and accident rates.

Yeah, I’m in Austin and it’s not as bad, but still more than I paid in other states.
