Out of nowhere my account has been locked. Completely. I called USAA and got a prerecorded statement saying I need to upload my driver’s license and it will take them 3 days to verify. They locked my account for 3 days?! Do they know what that does to people?!
This doesn’t sound like a scam. If you were randomly told you were locked out without trying to access your account, that’s a scam. If you forgot your PIN, phone password, or changed your number, or haven’t used your account in a long time, they’ll lock it for security. The process to fix this is at Enable Cookies | USAA | USAA.
Did you call the 800-531-8722 number? It’s the correct one for USAA. Be cautious of alternative numbers used by scammers. You might need to escalate to speak with a human. Persistence is key in customer service these days.
@Frances
That’s the correct number. I’ve encountered scammers using different ones. My mistake. It sounds like you should escalate and insist on speaking to someone. Leaving messages doesn’t work anymore; you have to stay on the line until they help you. Good luck.
@Vesper
There’s no escalation for profile recovery. If you’re locked out, you’ll need to go through the profile recovery process either online or by mailing color copies of your DL. Staying on the phone unnecessarily delays help for everyone involved.
