So I just got into an accident last week, and my car’s in the shop. I’m wondering if my insurance will cover a rental car during repairs. Anyone dealt with this before?
Yeah, if you have rental reimbursement coverage, they should cover it. I used it when my car got hit, and they paid for the rental until my car was fixed.

What’s rental reimbursement? Never heard of it before.
@Jess
It’s an add-on to your policy. Basically, it pays for a rental car if your car’s in the shop after an accident. Definitely worth having if you rely on your car every day!
I didn’t have rental reimbursement, and when I got in an accident, I had to pay for the rental out of pocket. Not fun, lol. Make sure you check if you have it before something happens.

Ouch! Yeah, I learned the hard way too. Didn’t realize it was an optional add-on. It was a pain waiting for the other driver’s insurance to sort it out.
I had rental reimbursement, but my insurance only covered $30 a day for the rental, and I needed the car for two weeks. I ended up having to pay the difference because rentals are more expensive where I live.
@Paxton
Same thing happened to me! I didn’t realize there was a cap. Definitely good to read the fine print in your policy.
If the other driver’s at fault, their insurance should cover your rental. That’s what happened with my last accident. It took a little while to sort out, though, so I was glad I had rental coverage in the meantime.
@Chao
Did it take long to get their insurance to pay up? I’ve heard it can be a hassle.

Yeah, it took a couple of weeks to get everything sorted. Their insurance tried to delay things, so having my own rental coverage saved me a lot of headaches.
FYI, if you don’t have rental coverage and don’t want to pay for a rental, sometimes borrowing a car from a friend or using Uber for a bit can save you money while everything gets fixed.

Good call. I borrowed my sister’s car last time my vehicle was in the shop. Saved me a ton, and I didn’t have to deal with the insurance drama.
