Why change the original Jake from State Farm… instead of just making a new character?

I don’t get it, did I miss something? The original idea was the partner suspecting someone was chatting with Jake from State Farm late at night, but he was just a regular customer service guy in khakis. Why switch to a totally different guy with the same name? Is it just for name recognition?

Also, I never understood the people showering Jake with gifts. How much money could he really save you? There’s even a lady giving him $1000 worth of steak.

State Farm originally picked the first Jake from their real employees for the ad, and he did great. But a few years back, they decided to replace him with an actor. Now everyone calls the new one ‘Fake Jake.’ The weirdest part was when they had a commercial with both of them, showing the original Jake training the new guy.

@Baylen
Guess I missed out on the whole ‘State Farm Universe’ storyline!

@Baylen
Yeah, I think a lot of people didn’t see that transition ad.

Even that ad felt forced. They should have just made a new commercial.

@Baylen
Someone once called them ‘Old Jake’ and ‘New Jake’… it kind of stuck.

The new Jake is okay, but I still miss the original. Why not bring back the first one?

Totally agree. Plus, why are famous athletes negotiating with Jake about rates? Like they even care.

@Devon
Why do we see these millionaires in every ad? Feels like they’re mocking regular people.

Exactly, and I can’t even throw a football, so it just feels like they’re rubbing it in.

@Devon
You’re right. We make them important by watching, but that doesn’t mean they’re more valuable than the rest of us.

@Baylen
Met the original Jake once at a fair. He was a cool dude.

@Baylen
The first Jake doesn’t work at State Farm anymore, and he’s not an actor. So it kind of made sense for them to pick someone new.

Actually, she gives him $1000 in steak, then offers more ‘good stuff’ later. It’s weird.

You’re right, I forgot about that.

Yeah, she whispers like she’s offering something secret. It’s super awkward.

I think she’s trying to flirt with him or something.

Yeah, totally got those vibes.

Guess we’re stuck with this ‘Fake Jake’ until he starts doing ads for Medicare insurance.

This guy’s the ‘new Jake,’ but still feels weird seeing him.
