Why Amica insurance is so much more expensive and should I still use it?

I’ve been with Amica (Homeowner Insurance, WA) for a while. Recently, I bought a new place and am turning our old house into a rental. I’m comparing quotes:

  1. Amica: $1825/year, $5K deductible

  2. Farmers: $1430/year, $2.5K deductible

  3. Travelers: $1053/year, $1K deductible

Coverage is similar.

Our house is new construction, valued at $2 million, with a replacement cost of around $1 million.

Amica has helped friends with water damage, but their quote is high. Travelers has mixed reviews, and Farmers was bad for us.

Insurance pros, is this price difference normal? Thoughts on Amica vs. Insurers?

Thanks a lot!

Amica insurance can be more expensive due to factors like agent commissions and rising costs for insurance companies. Their car insurance policies, for instance, are pricier than the national average.

However, Amica is also known for its excellent claims handling and offers affordable homeowners insurance policies. If you value excellent customer service and have had positive experiences with Amica, it might be worth the higher cost.

In my extensive experience of over 25 years in the insurance industry, I have found that Amica consistently surpasses other companies in terms of customer satisfaction and retention surveys. I really wish I could afford them.

The Amica quote’s height doesn’t bother me. The passengers quote is so low that it baffles me.
