What’s the best cheap car insurance in Virginia?

Looking into car insurance options in Virginia. Erie seems to have the best rates, but I’m also curious about other options. Anyone have any insights on which companies have the lowest rates and good coverage?

Erie is definitely one of the cheapest. Their full coverage is around $91 per month, which is 32% lower than the state average. They’re hard to beat for affordability

Yep, and their minimum coverage is about $38 a month. That’s pretty good if you’re looking to keep costs low without sacrificing essential coverage

@Oli
I’m with Erie for my 18-year-old, and they offer a minimum coverage rate of $84 per month for young drivers. It’s still pricey compared to adult rates, but lower than most other companies

If you’ve got a recent speeding ticket or accident, State Farm might be the cheapest. They’re offering rates around $102 per month after a ticket, and about $110 per month if there was an at-fault accident

@Ren
Yeah, car insurance costs tend to go up by 21% after a speeding ticket, but State Farm’s increase is more manageable. Travelers is another option that sometimes doesn’t raise rates after one ticket

@Lane
Good to know. Not every company is forgiving with tickets. Plus, I’ve heard Travelers is pretty reasonable about claims too

For drivers with poor credit, Geico tends to be the best. They charge around $172 per month for full coverage, which is $72 less than the Virginia average for similar drivers

I’ve had bad credit affect my insurance rates before. It’s good to see Geico offering a more affordable option for people in that situation

@Jai
Yeah, credit doesn’t impact driving skills, but insurers use it to gauge risk. If you have poor credit, it’s always smart to compare rates from several providers

Young drivers looking for full coverage will find Erie to be one of the most affordable options. It’s around $213 per month, compared to the average of $385 for 18-year-olds

That’s true, and if young drivers can, they should consider joining their parents’ policy. The combined rate is usually lower than if they get a separate policy

@Teal
Good point. Even though it costs more for parents, the overall price is often better than two separate policies

If you’re looking for a reliable insurer with high customer satisfaction, USAA is great but only for military members and their families. Otherwise, State Farm and Erie have high ratings too

Yeah, USAA has the highest ratings but limited availability. It’s good to see State Farm and Erie also get good customer feedback, especially for claims support

@Darby
I’m with State Farm and they’ve been solid. I’ve never had issues with claims, and their rates are pretty stable
