What is twisting in insurance?

As a policyholder, I encountered a scenario where my insurance agent approached me with a new policy offer, claiming it’s better suited to my needs and will save me money. However, upon closer inspection, I noticed that the new policy offers fewer benefits or higher premiums compared to my current coverage.

Twisting occurs when someone persuades or tries to persuade a policyholder to cancel an existing life insurance policy and buy a similar policy by providing inaccurate information or incomplete comparisons of the two policies’ benefits and drawbacks. Don’t allow yourself to be duped.

Honestly, I feel a little pressured to switch to this new policy.

My current coverage works well for me, and I’m not comfortable changing unless there’s a clear advantage.

Can we revisit other options that better align with my needs and budget?

I almost fell victim to twisting a while back.

An agent convinced me a new policy was a better deal, but luckily, I did some research and found out it had lower coverage for a higher price.
