What is going on with USAA these days?

I’ve been with USAA for a long time, but I’m getting fed up with all the bad news about them lately. When are they going to fix things?

“They’ve been struggling with profits and reported a $398 million loss in 2023.”

The last two times I needed repairs, the shop wanted to use manufacturer-specific parts, but USAA insisted on generic ones. The shop refused to budge, and this dragged on for two weeks both times.

Eventually, USAA agreed to the right parts, and the repairs were done. The cost difference was less than $100, but they paid for my rental car the whole time.

When my catalytic converter was stolen, the difference in parts was just $50, but the rental car cost them $1200. Whoever is making these decisions needs to rethink things.

I’ve seen a lot of complaints like this. It feels like penny-pinching in the wrong places.

The article also talked about how people’s accounts were wiped out by mysterious deposits and withdrawals. It feels like the whole USAA organization has lost its way. They used to stand for integrity and doing the right thing, but now they’re no better than the worst companies out there.

Maybe it’s time for a new bank or insurance company for veterans and military families. Any ideas for a name?

How about USAAA?

:joy: Good one!

It feels like USAA is being run like every other private company now. They used to make money by providing great service, but now it’s all about profit over service. And why do they need celebrities like Rob Gronkowski to sell their products? It feels like they’re throwing money at ads to cover up all the problems they’re having.

USAA had a great reputation, but now their marketing seems desperate. What were the people in charge thinking with all these changes?

@Devon
Classic case of the Peter Principle or the Dilbert Principle at work.

Glad I avoided that mess.
