No to both questions. This is one of the reasons I stopped using USAA after 20 years.
All the money they spend on ads… it’s just not what USAA is supposed to be about. They don’t need to act like a profit-driven company. Members feel like the execs are only in it for perks, not what’s best for us.
I got in because my wife’s dad was in the Army.

It’s not as exclusive as it used to be. That’s part of the problem.
