I’m looking for ways to lower my full coverage car insurance costs. I’ve heard there are tricks like increasing your deductible or looking for discounts, but I’m not sure what works best. Does anyone have advice on what’s worked for them?
Shopping around is definitely the best place to start. I compared quotes from three companies last year and saved almost $300 just by switching providers.

Totally agree. I check rates every couple of years, and it’s surprising how much prices vary for the same coverage.

Any tips on how to get better quotes? Like, does it help to bundle with other types of insurance?
@Piper
Yes! Bundling your auto and home insurance can get you a pretty decent discount. Definitely ask about that when you shop around.
I raised my deductible to $1,000, and my premium dropped by almost 15%. Just make sure you have enough saved up to cover the higher deductible in case something happens.

Good point. I did the same thing, but it took me a while to build up an emergency fund just in case.
Don’t forget about discounts! My agent helped me find a discount for being a safe driver and another for taking an online defensive driving course. Worth looking into.

Same here. I also got a discount for having automatic payments set up. It’s not huge, but it adds up over time.
Keeping your credit score in good shape helps too. I didn’t realize how much bad credit could impact my rates until I started working on it.

That’s so true. My rates went down after my credit improved. But it’s annoying that insurers can use credit in most states. Seems unfair, honestly.
Avoiding tickets and accidents is huge. My rates shot up after a speeding ticket, and it took years to go back down. Now I’m super careful.

Same here. Even a small fender bender made my rates jump. Defensive driving all the way now!
