Stuff stolen from friend’s car… will it affect her insurance?

last weekend, some of my stuff (around $4k worth) was stolen from my friend’s car, and they broke her window to get in.

i need to file a police report so my renters insurance can cover my losses, but i’m concerned that doing so could affect my friend’s car insurance somehow, like making her rates go up.

i’ve been holding off on filing the report because i don’t want it to impact her insurance :pray: any advice?

It shouldn’t impact her insurance. She’d only be filing with her auto insurance for the broken window or any other damage done during the break-in.

Since the claim is with your renter’s insurance, it shouldn’t affect her auto insurance unless she files a claim for the damages.

Ok, so filing a police report wouldn’t notify her insurance or anything, right? Thanks :pray:

@Zorion
I don’t see how it would.
