Pet insurance for Alaska... any recommendations?

I’ve been checking out pet insurance options here in Alaska, and Spot seems to be the top choice, but I’m also considering Embrace and Healthy Paws. Has anyone had any experience with these? I’ve got an active dog, so I need something with good coverage for accidents. Any suggestions?

I’ve been using Embrace for my two dogs, and I’m really happy with it. Their multiple pet discount has been a lifesaver, and the coverage is pretty solid. My dogs are always getting into something, so it’s nice to have that peace of mind.

How’s the claims process with Embrace? I’ve heard some companies can be a pain to deal with.

It’s been smooth so far. I’ve had to file a couple of claims, and they processed them pretty quickly. I haven’t had any issues yet.

I’m using Healthy Paws, and I love that they don’t have any annual limits. My dog had a major surgery last year, and they covered most of the cost without any problems. The only downside is their waiting period for hip dysplasia if your dog is younger.

No annual limits sounds great! I’ve got an older dog, though. Do they reduce coverage for older pets?

They don’t reduce coverage, but they do have stricter rules for certain conditions, especially for older pets. Still, the unlimited coverage makes up for it in my opinion.

Spot’s customization options are what sold me. I’ve got a big dog, and I like that I could tweak the deductible and annual limit to fit my budget. It’s been great for us so far, and I haven’t had any issues with claims.

@Zade
I like the idea of customizing the plan. Did you go with one of their wellness add-ons?

Yeah, I added the wellness coverage. It’s nice because it helps cover things like vet checkups and vaccines, so it’s worth it if you have regular visits.

I’ve got Figo, and it’s been the most affordable option I could find. It covers all the basics, and their customer service has been helpful. Plus, their app is great for filing claims quickly.

I’ve been considering Figo because of the price. Have you had to use their coverage for any major issues yet?

@Uma
Nothing major so far, just routine stuff, but the app makes it really easy to submit claims. I haven’t had any complaints.

I use ASPCA Pet Insurance for my older dog, and they’ve been great. The coverage hasn’t decreased as he’s gotten older, which was really important to me.

That’s good to hear. I’ve got a senior pet too, and I’ve been worried about finding a provider that doesn’t reduce coverage.
