Noticing Big Increases in Law Firm Rates—Is This Normal?

Hallo…

I’m curious about what’s going on with law firm rates lately. For those of you in litigation, have you noticed that new or potential panel counsel are asking for way higher rates?
I’ve been used to working with firms that charge around $185-$225, but now I’m seeing new firms asking for $275-$325 for merits-based defense work, no matter the business line. Is this happening to anyone else?
Without naming names, what rates are you seeing and paying in the Midwest, Southeast, and New England (excluding NYC)?
Best regards…

Yes, the recent hikes in legal firm fees are perfectly usual. In actuality, these prices have increased significantly between 2023 and 2024.

:speak_no_evil: there is still a significant need for legal services, particularly in sectors like litigation, which supports these growth

:saluting_face:demand has increased for legal services and including inflation factors too

:saluting_face:rising cost of doing buisness has also brought about an increament in legal fee and other trivial expenses

:face_with_raised_eyebrow:some law firms also deal with money lauderers who bring in large amounts of money to be kept in their custody for a certain time frame
