I’m considering Birmingham, AL. Rent there is $1,266 per month, and the cost of living is low at 88.3. Anyone know what the job market is like?

Birmingham’s not bad. The average income is $50,960, and the rent-to-income ratio is 29.8%. The vacancy rate is 9.4%, so finding a place shouldn’t be too tough.

That sounds pretty good. Unemployment is low at 2.5%, so you shouldn’t have too much trouble finding a job either.

I’ve been living here for a couple of years, and I like it. Commute time is only 22 minutes, and the job market is solid.
