when you say dealership, was it a kia one or just any used car lot?

this matters a lot because there was a recall on that model for this exact issue.

yeah, that’s what i’m thinking too. sometimes manufacturers will step in if it’s a dealership sale.

@Camden
a kia dealer might actually want to fix this to keep a happy customer, especially since they get paid for the repair.

some dealers are just better than others. one time i got a free fix on my used car from a really decent dealer, even though they didn’t have to do it.

@Camden
where i’m from, a working windshield washer is a safety thing, so they’d be required to fix it.

maybe that’s true where you live … my state isn’t very big on consumer protection laws, unfortunately.

if i remember right, ny requires used dealers to let buyers know about open recalls, although they sometimes bury it in paperwork.

it was from an independent dealership.

honestly, looking up the recall info is probably your best option.

@Blair
yeah, if it’s an independent dealer, go straight to kia.

so, not a kia dealer? they probably expect the buyer to do more research in that case.

is this car financed? usually finance companies require comprehensive and collision coverage. you would’ve needed to specify if you only wanted liability.

it’s a 2014, so i doubt it’s financed.

@Zuri
they do get financed.

@Zuri
not hard to do at all.

try asking your insurance company if they automatically cover newly bought cars. some policies do if you had coverage before.

yeah, a lot do if you’ve had prior coverage.

yep, this could be a good solution.

sounds like the car was added without comprehensive. only if it was previously listed with that coverage would they consider it.

@Riley
if he’d had full coverage before, might have been a different story.

agree with you on this one.
