Is it worth reporting this to my insurance company?

My spouse was in the car with my son, who was backing up and had a learner’s permit. There was a large cosmetic dent when he crashed into a wall due to the vehicle mat becoming caught under the brake. Is it better to pay for it out of pocket or should I even try to use my insurance?

Insurance might not cover learner’s permit accidents. Check your policy and compare repair cost to deductible. Use insurance for major damage or if you hit something else.

If the repair costs aren’t too high and you can manage it comfortably, paying out of pocket might save you from potential premium increases or deductibles. However, if the damage is significant or you’re unsure about future costs, it could be worth checking with your insurance provider. They can give you a clearer picture of how it might affect your policy.

Honestly I appreciate the heads-up about potential premium increases. I’ll do some calculations to see if paying out of pocket makes financial sense in the long run.
